The Toledo Zoo has been home to many firsts in the world of zoos; such as the first hippoquarium (and subsequently the first video of a hippo birth), as well as the only place in the world where the Kihansi Spray Toad is on display. It also is only the second zoo in the world to have saddle-billed storks as a part of its collection. The Toledo Zoo participates in over 30 Species Survival Plans. It is also a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the Butterfly Conservation Initiative. The Zoo is consistently rated as one of the nation's ten best.

The Toledo Museum of Art is an internationally known art museum. The museum contains major collections of glass art and of 19th and 20th century European and American Art, as well as small but distinguished Renaissance, Greek and Roman, and Japanese collections. A sculpture garden, containing primarily postwar works (earlier sculptures are on display in the interior) was added in 2001, the Museum's new Glass Pavilion across Monroe Street opened in August 2006.

Fifth Third Field is home to the Toledo Mud Hens, an International League team and the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. It seats 10,300 and opened in 2002. The stadium was named the best minor league ballpark in America by Newsweek.
